Looking to make a lasting impact while teaching abroad? Few organizations offer the opportunity to transform lives like One Thousand Schools. We are seeking dedicated individuals to spend a year teaching English to at-risk youth in Honduras. This immersive experience includes a monthly stipend, housing, transportation, health insurance, and visa renewal trips.
About Us:
In 2012, One Thousand Schools (formerly Students Helping Honduras) established Villa Soleada Bilingual School to provide a high-quality education to low-income students in El Progreso, Honduras. Our school serves over 270 students from pre-K to 8th grade, and in 2021, we opened our high school. In 2022, we celebrated our first-ever high school graduation.
Our mission is to alleviate poverty and reduce violence in Honduras through education and youth empowerment. We are proud to offer bilingual education—typically accessible only to upper-class families—to children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

- Housing in a shared staff apartment (furnished, with utilities and high-speed internet)

- Classroom Materials provided
Please note that expenses for travel to/from Honduras and personal amenities are not covered.
Housing & Food:
Volunteers will live in a shared apartment in the city center of El Progreso. Transportation is provided to and from the school by bus. Wi-Fi is available in the apartment, our office, and the school.

While teaching experience and advanced Spanish are preferred, we value flexibility, resilience, and a willingness to learn. Our volunteers are typically 21-35 years old, with diverse professional backgrounds in fields like social work and international development. Above all, we seek individuals committed to service and teamwork.
